About Tokyo Imperial Palace

The Tokyo Imperial Palace (皇居Kōkyo, literally 'Imperial Residence') is the main residence of the Emperor of Japan. It is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda district of the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo and contains several buildings including the Fukiage Palace (吹上御所, Fukiage gosho) where the Emperor has his living quarters, the main palace (宮殿, Kyūden) where various ceremonies and receptions take place, some residences of the Imperial Family, an archive, museums and administrative offices.

One of the places I wanted to visit because I learned in a Japanese history class It s peaceful in the afternoon My husband passed out the stone bench since it was so comfortable with nice sun shine

Sakura gate is the best place to enter the imperial garden You walk over a moat and through a couple gates then the closest point to the imperial castle is nearby Lots of people taking photos so u know this is a good place Of course the imperial castle is closed except for a few days a year so really u can only look at the outside
